It is difficult to know which site to use when confronted by inconsistancies in formatting.  Some may stem from which version of the Citation manual is being used.  The most reliable source would be the current MLA Handbook for Writers of Resarch Papers (7th edition, 2009)

The most reliable tool, of course, is the manual.  Our MLA Citation libguide (link below) provides a wealth of up-to-date information and links to other reliable Citation websites.

Depending on the circumstances, the class instructor may be a good source of advice.
