Here's how to open a file on a portable drive:
- If your drive did not automatically open when you inserted it, go to Computer or My Computer. If you don't see it on the desktop, you may need to go to the Windows Start button>Computer.
- Double click on your drive.
- Now you can see all the folders on your drive as well as files saved on the top level. You can double click on the file if it is on the top level, or click on the folder in which you saved it and then double click on the file to open it.
- The default program that can read your file type will launch automatically and your file will now be open.
