An easy place to get started is our American History guide (link below). It lists general resources in US history, and then resources by time period.

For instance, the first time period is 1450-1763. If you go to that guide you can then click on the Books & eBooks link to get some great book from our library. The Print Books box is the one you want for books you can take home, everything else will be an eBook.

To find out more about any of the print books, click on the title and you can see a description of the book, the call number to find it on the shelves, if it is currently checked out. You can even grab a citation if you click on Cite/Export above the book title. Just make sure to format it double spaced with hanging indent for your paper.
