You can find peer-reviewed articles on capital punishment by using the library's academic databases.  To do so, follow the link below to the databases guide.  Once in the guide, select the Controversial Issues page from the database subject drop down menu, to view the databases that are best for subjects that inspire a lot of debate, such as capital punishment.  From the list of Controversial issues databases, Academic Search Complete is the place to look if you specifically want scholarly, peer-reviewed articles.  The other databases such as Issues & Controversies and Opposing Viewpoints have lots of material on this subject, but it is not peer-reviewed.

In Academic Search Complete, you can retrieve all articles about capital punishment by searching for (DE "CAPITAL punishment").  After searching, select the 'Scholarly (Peer-Reviewed) Journals' option on the left, along with the Full-text option.  This will produce over a thousand articles.  You can reduce the number of articles retrieved by adding more specifics to your search (for example, (DE "CAPITAL punishment") AND United States), or by using more of the limiter options on the left (Publication date, Subject Thesaurus Term, etc.).
