Hi

To find articles on this topic, go to the databases link below. Click on 'E' to find EBSCO: Academic Search Complete.

There are several search terms that are good, and you can try them in combination. For example, poverty AND economic development, also search poverty AND social problems.

You will get many results. To narrow that down, after you run the search, use the limiters on the left. First, select for Full Text. If you need academic articles, also select for References Available and Scholarly Journals. You can change the range of publication dates so you get newer articles.

Also select the Subject: Thesaurus Terms option, then click Show More to expand. Put checks next to the subject terms that apply to your topic. The effects of poverty on  society is fairly broad, so you will want to focus in on some specific aspects.

Also try Gale Opposing Viewpoints. If you click on the Browse Issues link in the grey banner at the top, you will get an alphabetical listing of issues. Find poverty on the list and select, and you will find all the articles on poverty.
