A couple of years ago the library started collecting the history of the College of the Mainland. We have many items, including, slides, films, photographs, catalogs, reports and much more. We are trying to digitize as much as possible to make it easy for everyone to access. Many steps are involved in obtaining, organizing, inventorying, preserving and digitizing COM History items. It is very much a work in progress. Here are the ways that you can currently access COM History & Archives items:

  • COM History & Archives Room
The COM History Room is located in room 124 on the first floor of the Library. Viewing of items in the collection must be arranged by appointment. Please contact Tillie Henson at (409) 933-8205 or email Thenson@com.edu.
  • COM History & Archives guide
Access the history of the College of the Mainland, including an overview, timelines by decade and specific documents such as COM catalogs, student handbooks, employee newsletters, budgets and more. Currently, most online content is from 2000 or after. You will also find links to other sources for COM History.
  • COM History and Archives on Flickr

View our COM History photos online. Photos are organized into albums like Students @ COM, Faculty @ COM, COM in Italy, the original graduating Class of 1970 and much more! Anyone can view the photos online. Many of our photos do not have identifying information. If you ever view a photo and would like to tell us something about it, you can email us at comhistory@gmail.com. Please include a link to the photo so we know which one you want to tell us about. If you are a Flickr member you can also post comments and tags on the photo’s page.
