I have linked the social sciences databases below for you.  For articles, I would look at ProQuest Central, the Social Science database and Gale Academic OneFile.  In any of those databases, I would do a search for terms like family AND "communication patterns" or more generally family AND communication.  Once you do your search, use the filters to make sure the full text and peer reviewed options are selected.  This will ensure the results are scholarly articles.

I found a couple of videos that speak on families and communication patterns.  Here is one from AVON  and here is one on Films on Demand.
