In a situation like this, your best bet is to look for articles in our Hot Topics & News databases.  Articles about current affairs and the like are more likely to include the expression of authors' personal opinions.

To find articles, follow the link below to our list of available Hot Topics & News databases.  Most are provided by Ebsco, which is a good place to look because it gives you the option to limit your search to peer-reviewed articles.  Once in the database, your best bet is to search for a topic that inspires much debate, as there will likely be lots of articles about it.  A good place to find possible subjects is Gale: Opposing Viewpoints.  In that database, select Browse Issues to view many potential topics.

In the Ebsco databases, once you have done a basic search for a topic (ex. gun control), you will be presented with a list of articles.  On the left of the articles, check the box next to Scholarly (Peer Reviewed) Articles to limit the search to these types of sources.  From there you can browse through the articles and find one in which the author presents his or her opinion on an issue.

Keep in mind that most peer-reviewed articles are more focused on factual analysis than the expression of an opinion.  Articles from less scholarly resources like magazines are more likely to be centered on the author's opinion.
