Your best bet is to use our Literature databases. Go to the databases by A to Z linked below. Click on the arrow next to Database Subjects, click on literature to find the best bets.
I searched in the GVRL: eBooks for your story, and found it in Short Stories for Students. That article does discuss characters. Try the other databases for addtional resources.
