Q. When did COM adopt the term "fighting ducks"?

Fighting Ducks was adopted by COM in January, 2006 for the purposes of school spirit and having a college mascot. The name was determined by a vote with COM Comets, COM Ducks and Fighting Ducks being the options. Fighting Ducks won at 53%.

And Now for the Rest of the Story

Back when COM started in the late 60's, the college actually had several sports teams. At that time they were the COM Comets. By 1977 the teams dissolved due to lack of funding.
