Below is a link for the library databases that contain primary sources.  Not everything in those databases will be primary sources, so you want to be familiar with what a primary source is so you can decide for yourself if what you are reading is a primary source.

Primary sources are records created at the time of an event or experience, or as told by people who were present at the event such as:

  • letters
  • diaries
  • government documents
  • photographs
  • oral histories
  • artifacts
  • films
  • works of literature
  • maps

Since you are looking for a history related primary source, the History Online, Issues & Controversies and Modern World History Online databases will be the easiest to search.  Do a search for your topic in any of these database and hit enter.  Once you get some results, you will see the word Primary Sources at the top of your list.  You can click that word for just the documents that are primary sources.

You can repeat this type of search in any of the databases listed in the Primary Source Databases link below.  The library's guide with tips for finding primary sources is also linked.
