I did a search in EBSCO Academic Search Complete. A link to the search is below.

I searched for cigarette smoking AND health. The capitalized AND tells the database to find articles that mention smokers and health.

I then limited to Full Text on the left and narrowed the results for the past 5 years using the publication date tool.

You will then need to expand the Subject Thesaurus Terms on the left and checked off all subjects that had to do with smoking and related health problems.

There will still about thousands of  results, so you might want to expand the Geography heading (then click on the blue Show More link that appears under the short list) and check the U.S. and any American states.

There are other databases that are good for this topic. I did a search in Health Reference Center. From the result list, just click on the + sign next to Subject to see all the subjects, and select the best one to see the most relevant articles.

If you want to try other databases, go to our A-Z Databases libguide, also available below. Click the Fitness and Wellness tab at the top (or the Current Events tab) and choose one of the other databases listed.
