That's because all the databases provided at COM Library require paid access, which the library does for you. The providers of these databases have to know that you are an authorized user, so you actually have to use the links from the library pages to get into a database.

If you are on campus, you will get in when you click on the database link. When you are off campus, you login in with your COM ID and last name. See more info from our Home Access libguide (link below).
