.WPS files are files created using the Microsoft Works word processor.  Microsoft Word cannot automatically open Microsoft Works files, but Microsoft does have a free program called Microsoft Works 6–9 File Converter that can open Works files in Word.  The library lab staff can help you install this program in the lab if you need it.
