Follow this format when making an MLA citation for a book on your works cited page:

Last Name, First Name. Title of Book. City of Publication, Publisher, Publication Date.

Per Purdue OWL's MLA guidance: the City of Publication should only be used if the book was published before 1900, if the publisher has offices in more than one country, or if the publisher is unknown in North America.

Example:
Burns, Charles M. Will there ever be a rainbow? Penury Press, 1989.

The citation format will differ slightly if you are citing certain types of books (ex. a chapter or section of an anthology).  For specialized citations such as this, follow the link below to the Purdue Owl MLA guide to view the other types of citation formats.
