Follow this format when making an MLA citation for a book on your works cited page:

Author's last name, Author's first name. Title of the book. Place of publication: publisher, date of publication. Print.

Example:
Burns, Charles M. Will there ever be a rainbow. Springfield : Penury Press, 1989. Print.
