While most APA citations include both an in-text citation and a citation in the reference list, interview citations are unique in that they only require an in-text citation.  The format for the citation is:

(Name of person interviewed, personal communication, Month day, year).

Examples:

Mr. McClure has told others he regrets the comments he made at the 1962 Academy Awards (Kitty Kelly, personal communication, January 12, 2012).

Kitty Kelly stated that Mr. McClure has expressed regret about the comments he made at the 1962 Academy Awards (personal communication, January 12, 2012).

There would be no citation for this interview on the works cited page.
