I did find an article in Short Stories for Students (which is a book in electronic format). Go to the Databases LibGuide below to GVRL ebooks and click on the Short Stories for Students icon. Then search the title in quotes.

For books, and the story text, go to WorldCat (linked below) and search Updike, John. Also try a search on "A & P".

For articles, go to the Databases link again. I first tried Literature Resources from Gale. Search for Updike John updike, john And "a & p". Be sure to select for full text on the search page, and also for literary criticism at the bottom.

Last, search EBSCO Academic Search Complete for john updike + "a & p". Once you get your results, select full text on the left. Also click on the subject and subject thesaurus links on the left. Check anything that says criticism or characters and characteristics in literature. I got a few results that way.

I’ve also included a link to a LibGuide that explains how to use all these databases. You can get MLA citations from most of them. Let me know if you need more help.
