Answer

To find peer reviewed articles you'll need to go to our EBSCO databases. The best ones for you will be on the Social Sciences tab of the Databases by Subject (link below) page.

  1. From the listed databases on the Social Sciences page, Select EBSCO: All Social Sciences Databases.
  2. Type in Attention deficit disorder. Use quotes around the words to search as a phrase: "Attention deficit disorder"
Note: Abbreviations can work in the database sometimes, but in this case it spells out the word add, so you have to type it out. ADHD or Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is also used sometimes.
  3. You'll have tens of thousands of results and now you need to narrow down. On the left side of the result list, scroll down until you see Subject: Thesaurus Term. Click on it. A short list will open up to show you subject options.
  4. Now click on Show more at the bottom of this short list. Scroll down the new list until you see attention-deficit disorder in adults. Click the box next to it and hit the update button.
  5. Now you should have hundreds of articles, all on ADD & adults. To meet the requirements of the assignment, you will need to go to Limit To on the left side of the results list and check the box next to Scholarly (Peer Reviewed) Journals.
  6. You can apply two more limits to make it easier to go through the list:
    • Under Limit To, check the Full Text box to get only those articles available onlilne.
    • Under Limit To, you can also limit the articles by date by using the slide bar.
  7. Now you'lll just need to review the remaining articles on the list to see which will work best for what you want to focus on in you paper.
