Answer

Known Author:

APA in-text citations should include both the author's last name and the year of publication.  If you are including a direct quote from the source, you should also include the page number.

Examples:

Findings have suggested that the earth is round (Smith, 2001).

Smith (2001) has suggested that the earth is round.

"Evidence from my years of exhaustive research forces me to conclude that the earth is of a spherical shape" (Smith, 2001, p. 99).

Smith (2001) has stated: "Evidence from my years of exhaustive research forces me to conclude that the earth is of a spherical shape" (p. 99).

Unknown Author:

For sources with no known author, cite it using the full title of the work if it is mentioned within the sentence, or by the 1st two words of the title if included in the parentheses only.

Book and report titles are italicized or underlined, while articles, chapter titles and web pages are in quotation marks.

Examples:

The web page "In-Text Citations: Author/Authors" (2014) has many useful examples.

According to the on-line style-guide, it is correct to use quotation marks for article titles ("In-Text", 2014).
