Q

How do I create a hanging indent with a bulleted list in Word 2013? It's for my MLA Works Cited page. My instructor requires that we use bullets, too.

Answer

Bulleted Works Cited pages are not standard MLA format, so please be sure that is what your instructor requested so that you do not lose points.

If so, the best way to do this is to:

  1. Type, or copy and paste, your first reference into your Word document.
  2. Place your cursor in front of the first word in your reference and click the bullet icon in the Paragraph section of the toolbar to add your bullet.
  3. To force the 2nd line to indent, place your cursor at the beginning of the second line of the reference & hit Ctri + Tab at the same time.
  4. Repeat for all other references.
