How can I find out if another library has a book that I want?
COM Library uses the global catalog WorldCat as its main library catalog, which can let you search libraries worldwide. To do so, follow the link to WorldCat below. Enter the title of the book you want in the search bar, and then in the drop-down box next to it select Libraries Worldwide. If COM Library owns the item, it will be listed at the top, but if we don't then it should still appear in the results list. Find the book in the list and click on it to open its item record. From there, scroll down to the part that says "Worldwide libraries own this item" and click on it to view the nearest libraries that own the book.
If you want a book from another library, COM Library can attempt to acquire it through interlibrary loan. To do so, follow the link below to our interlibrary loan request form and fill in the required information.
Another option for books in other libraries is to acquire a (free) TexShare card from COM Library. This card will allow you to check out books from other Texas libraries participating in the TexShare program. You can learn more about TexShare through the link below.
