Q

I linked to a Films on Demand video in Blackboard, but it gets an error message when my students try to use it. Can it only be used on campus?

Or do I have to be on campus when I create the link?

Answer

No, you don’t have to be on campus to get a link that will work off campus, you just have to make sure that you get the link when you are on the page that describes the video. Just scroll past the description to “Title URL” box. This link will be the durable link to the video and have the EZProxy prefix. It should look like this:  https://ezproxy.com.edu/login?url=http://digital.films.com/PortalPlaylists.aspx?aid=21939&xtid=47828

This method of getting the link will work whether you are on or off campus and it’s the only way to allow your student to access off campus—they will just be prompted for their com id and last name when of campus.  See more in our How to Use Films on Demand (FOD) LibGuide (link below).
