Hi, the best databases for your subject area are the social sciences databases. If you go to that page in our Databases by Subject LibGuide, you can search all the EBSCO databases with social sciences content simultaneously by selecting EBSCO: All Social Sciences Databases.

One of the things that may give your problems, however is that you have not focused your topic. For good results that don't bring back an overwhelming number of articles, you should narrow down your topic a bit more. You can try a search on rural sociology, but you'll get over 5,000 articles.

If you are not sure how to narrow down your concept before your search, you can narrow down after. On the left side of the result list You can:

  1. Limit to full text and update.
  2. Scroll down to subject, expand the menu, select sociology, rural and update.
  3. Now you'll have a couple hundred articles. You can narrow more by looking at subject again and seeing which you'd like to focus on, such as rural conditions, communities and more--click on show more to see all options--select the one you want and update. That should be a manageable list from which to choose.
