How do I format long quotations in an APA formatted paper?

If the quotation is more than 40 words, it should appear as its own paragraph. Each line should be indented. The quotation should not have quotation marks around it. At the end of the quotation include, in parentheses, the page number that the quote is from.
Example from Purdue OWL:
Jones's (1998) study found the following:
Students often had difficulty using APA style,
especially when it was their first time citing sources.
This difficulty could be attributed to the fact that many
students failed to purchase a style manual or to ask
their teacher for help. (p. 199)
The rules are different for quotes with fewer than 40 words. In this case, the quote should not be a separate paragraph and should be in quotes. After the quotation, include the author, year, and page number.
Example:
She stated, “The ‘placebo effect’ . . . disappeared when behaviors were studied in this manner” (Miele, 1993, p. 276), but she did not clarify which behaviors were studied.
