Where can I find some information about dependence on technology?
Answer
You can find information about this in several places: books, eBooks, and articles in databases.
For books and eBooks, you can follow the link below to the COM Library catalog, WorldCat. Based on the searches I tried, it appears that the best way to find books about this subject is to enter the search string su:Technology--social aspects. There are not any books that are exclusively about dependence on technology, but there are several about the interaction between technology and society, and may provide some discussion of the implications of technological dependence.
For articles, you can follow the link below to our Databases by Subject Libguide. Select the Social Sciences tab and select individual databases to search. In the databases provided by EBSCO, searching for articles on the interaction between technology and society appears to be the most reliable way to locate resources that discuss technological dependence. You can find articles like this by entering this search string: DE "TECHNOLOGY & civilization".
There are also some articles in the Gale databases. Follow the link below to the database list and select Opposing Viewpoints, InfoTrac Newstand, and Gale Virtual Reference Library. Select Subject above the search bar and then search for Technology and society to view relevant articles.
