How can I find academic journal articles about Romeo and Juliet?
Answer
The COM Library literature databases are the place to find literature criticism. To search them, follow the link below to our Databases by Subject Libguide and then select the Literature tab. This will present you with a list of the library's literature databases. Chadwyck-Healy Literature Online, EBSCO Academic Search Complete, and Gale Literature Resources all contain academic journal articles that discuss Romeo and Juliet.
In Chadwyck-Healy, select the criticism option on the left side of the screen and then search for romeo and juliet in the Subject field. Limit your search to academic journals and full-text articles.
In Academic Search Complete, begin with a search for romeo and juliet, which will retrieve thousands of articles. Weed out the unwanted articles by using the limiters on the left side of the screen. Limit to full-text and peer-reviewed articles. From there you can limit further by selecting individual headings in the Subject and Subject: Thesaurus Term fields.
In Gale Literature Resources, select the Works Search tab at the top and enter romeo and juliet. In the list of results, select Romeo and Juliet (play). You can then limit to peer-reviewed (academic journal) articles.
You can find more help in searching for these types of articles in the How to Use Literature Databases Libguide linked below.
