We have some resources on that topic.

Click on the below link to WorldCat and search for American Sign Language. The results will all look like dictionaries, but many of them include historical info on ASL. Click on the title links to see more info. For the eBooks, access them and then examine the table of contents and indices.

For articles, I had a harder time. Go to the History tab under Databases by Subject (link below) and click on EBSCO. Search for American Sign Language, and use limiters to refine to full text, your preferred publication dates and so forth. I only found a few. They were mostly very technical.

If your instructor allows it, you can also search the web. Be sure that you are allowed to do this. Search history of American Sign Language, and you will get several sources with citations from non profits.
